realme understands this concept and introduced new design language to the realme Buds Air 2 Neo. It comes with two colors – Active Black and Calm Gray.
I got to play with the new realme Buds Air 2 Neo and test its features.
Unboxing the realme Buds Air 2 Neo
The signature realme yellow box comes with the realme Buds Air 2 Neo (left and right buds), charging case, charging cable (in yellow!), ear cushion, and warranty/manual.
The Futuristic Design of realme Buds Air 2 Neo
There is so much to talk about the new realme Buds Air 2 Neo. First, the gleaming mirror design. The mirror design in the earbud surface tip reflects varying colors in different angles. It feels like you own different earbuds with its futuristic design. It also features a smart touch functionality that allows you to send different commands with just one tap.
You can configure the settings using the realme Link and set commands for different taps.
I like that I can personalized these so I won’t have big adjustments with the new earbuds.
• Double taps — Play/Pause music, answer a call
• Triple taps — Go to the next song
• Press and hold one side — Reject call
• Press and hold both sides — Switch between Noise Cancelling mode and Transparency mode
From Buds Air Neo to Buds Air 2 Neo, realme has changed the shape from a rod to a bean. The earbuds still adopt the curvy aesthetic of the previous generation, and fits perfectly in the ear (without the fear of falling).
The charging case is relatively small, with material made of matte material. I somewhat feel it is a bit unsteady, but it works okay especially when charging.
For an entry-level earbuds, realme Buds Air 2 Neo offers advanced features than its competitors.
Active Noise Cancellation
Active Noise Cancellation is an important feature for me, especially when editing videos. The realme Buds Air 2 Neo supports an active noise cancellation of up to 25dB.
It monitors external noise through a feed-forward microphone, allowing the earbuds to send out a reverse anti-noise sound to cancel it out. It can filter out most low-frequency noises, including the rumble of airplanes, the subway, and other transportation noises. For the case of those working at home, the barking dogs and outside noises. Users can choose the ear tips that fit their ears to enhance passive noise reduction for better noise isolation.
Transparency Mode
The realme Buds Air 2 Neo also has Transparency Mode which allows you to hear sound or noises on the background. This is especially helpful when conversing with people (without the need to take off the earbuds).
The dual microphones make it possible for the Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode to work. These work as a powerful noise reduction by the ENC noise canceling algorithm.
Optimum performance with up to 28 hours playtime
For its size, the realme Buds Air 2 Neo is impressive with up to 20 hours playtime with ANC turned on, the same length of time for most other earbuds in the market in normal operation. While with ANC turned off, the Buds Air 2 Neo can last up to 28 hours. This is 65 percent increase from the 17 hours provided by the previous generation.
For those who are always on the go, or always in a Zoom meeting, the device also supports fast charging. With just 10 minutes of charging time, you’ll get 180 minutes of playback.
10mm Bass Boost Driver
For better listening experience, the realme Buds Air 2 Neo boosts a 10mm Bass Boost Driver. This provides a deeper and richer audio experience.
I love listening to MTV Unplugged (Nirvana and BTS) when testing earphones and the realme Buds Air 2 Neo gives a more pronounced sound (not tunog lata)
88ms Super Low Latency for Gaming
The realme Buds Air 2 Neo is not only perfect for enjoying music or watching movies. If you are into gaming too, you can use the earbuds to play and even stream games. realme has upgraded the Game Mode with latency as low as 88ms — the industry’s lowest. That’s a reduction of 35 percent from the previous generation. Now, when you play games, your performance won’t be impacted by sound and pictures not syncing.
The Verdict
To simply summarize what the realme Buds Air 2 Neo is all about – these are cool earbuds that offer advanced features comparable to earbuds/earphones priced at a higher price.
I just wish that the differences with the Active Noise Cancelling, Normal and Transparecy Mode would be more prominent in the sound. But the quality of sound is solid, loud and clear.

I actually dropped these earbuds twice during my review – and they still work perfectly okay. So yes, solid, durable earbuds that can be your stylish accessory for enjoying your music, or playing games.
